A quarterly newsletter called "Senior Times", is available by contacting the Office for the Aging & Disabilities Resource Center. The Senior Times is packed with information, including senior activities, current events, health and welfare, and tips / reminders of seasonal money-saving and conservation techniques. Social Adult Day Services
AGENCY: Washington County Office For the Aging and Disability Resource Center

Social adult day service programs provide care to frail and disabled older adults in a supervised group setting within the community. Services include socialization activities, supervision and monitoring, and nutrition. Programs also provide personal care that includes hands on assistance with mobility, eating and toileting (including care of incontinence). All services are based on an individual care plan and assessment of the participant. Social adult day services provide a break to caregivers and especially gives peace of mind to working caregivers. A donation of $10.00 a day is suggested to support the continuation of these services, but no one will be denied service because of an inability to make a donation.

The Conkling Center

Our Mission is to enhance the quality of life of seniors in the community directly and indirectly, by providing services, programs, and opportunities to meet their ever-changing needs. The Conkling Center On-The-Go Transportation program offers door-to-door transportation to community members 55+ within a 20 mile radius of the City of Glens Falls. We offer social and educational presentations on a wide range of topics throughout the year. We offer community awareness, health and safety, legal, inter-generational presentations and other topics of interests to seniors. Our Housing Options for Seniors provides information available senior housing options in the local area. I addition to this resource, we have a DVD titled "What Everyone Should Know About Memory Loss, Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Communication. We distribute Ice Melt to the local senior and community centers, as well as, senior services organizations for distribution to seniors during the winter months.

The Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging was established in 1974. The programs and services available under the auspices of the Office for the Aging are made possible by contributions from program participants and funds from Warren and Hamilton Counties, New York State Office for the Aging, and the U.S. Administration on Aging.
